Flower the Skunk hopes to educate locals about the species - News8000.com - WKBT
ONALASKA, Wis. (WKBT) – There's a sweet-smelling forest creature living at the Coulee Region Humane Society.
Flower the skunk has been living in the animal control building since June of 2020 when she was rescued from an area near Richland Center.
She was just one month old and couldn't go back into the wild.
Now, she's going to serve as the Human Society's animal ambassador.
She'll teach both kids and adults not to be afraid of skunks.
"We're hoping to maybe set up an outside cage area for her, so when people come down to the shelter, they can at least go up to the cage and view her up close," says Animal Control Supervisor and Wildlife Rehabilitator Kathy Kasakaitas.
Flower hasn't made it to any local schools yet because of the pandemic, but wildlife staff hope she can visit soon.
